Body changes (1st Trimester)

1st Trimester Body changes

The first trimester brings many noticeable (and some surprising) changes as your body begins adjusting to pregnancy. Most of these symptoms are normal and caused by hormonal shifts that support your baby’s early development.

  • You may experience:

    • Breast tenderness or enlargement – due to rising hormone levels

    • Nausea or vomiting (often called morning sickness) – can occur any time of day

    • Frequent urination – as your body increases blood flow to the kidneys

    • Fatigue – your body’s working overtime to grow new life

    • Mood swings – emotional ups and downs are very common

    • Mild cramping or spotting – may happen as the uterus stretches or the embryo implants

    • Bloating or constipation – slower digestion is common in early pregnancy

    • Food cravings or aversions – your sense of taste and smell may suddenly change

These symptoms vary for everyone, some feel all of them, others only a few. At Borneo Mother & Child Hospital, we help you understand what’s expected and what’s not, so you feel supported from the start.
