Getting close to your due date? Here’s what to expect when labor begins and your baby is ready to arrive!
- Early Labor:
This is the start. You’ll feel mild contractions that come and go. Your cervix begins to thin and open. It might take hours or even a day — so stay relaxed, eat light, and rest if you can. - Active Labor:
Contractions get stronger and closer together. Your cervix dilates more quickly now (usually from 4 to 10 cm). This is when you’ll head to the hospital. Breathing techniques and support really help here. - Pushing & Birth:
Once you’re fully dilated, it’s time to push! With each contraction, you’ll work with your doctor to guide the baby out. And then — you meet your little one for the first time! - Delivery of the Placenta:
After your baby is born, the placenta comes out — this usually takes a few more gentle contractions and happens within 30 minutes.
Every birth story is unique — and at Borneo Mother & Child Hospital, we’re here to support yours with care, calm, and confidence.
