While your focus may shift toward your newborn, it’s equally vital to check in on your partner’s needs—physically, emotionally, and mentally.
- Physical Needs: Childbirth is a marathon, not a sprint. Your partner may be healing from stitches, a cesarean, or simply exhaustion. Offer support by helping with meals, managing visitors, or encouraging rest.
- Emotional Support: Postpartum hormones can trigger mood swings, anxiety, or even tears. Be patient, listen without trying to “fix” things, and validate your partner’s emotions—your presence alone can be healing.
- Self-Care Matters: Gently encourage small moments of rest: a quiet cup of tea, a long shower, or 20 minutes of silence. Help create that space—it might mean more than you realize.
At Borneo Mother & Child Hospital, we recognize that healing happens on many levels. That’s why we include partners in postnatal counseling sessions and offer holistic support for both parents.
