The right position can prevent nipple soreness, improve latch, and make feeding more enjoyable.
Common Positions:
- Cradle Hold: Classic position with baby lying on your forearm.
- Cross-Cradle Hold: Gives more control over baby’s head; ideal for newborns.
- Football Hold: Baby is tucked under your arm, great for mothers recovering from C-section or with larger breasts.
- Side-Lying Hold: Perfect for night feeds or resting; lie on your side with baby facing you.
- Laid-Back (Biological Nurturing): You recline slightly, and baby lies on your chest, using gravity to help latch naturally.
Use pillows for back or arm support, and bring baby to the breast, not the other way around.
