Circumcision Care

Circumcision Care

Circumcision involves the surgical removal of the foreskin from the penis, and while it’s a routine procedure in many cultures and religions, it requires careful attention during the healing process. After circumcision, the area will need proper care to avoid infection and promote healing.

It’s important to keep the area clean and dry, and to follow any specific instructions provided by the healthcare provider. For the first few days, the circumcised area might appear red and swollen, which is normal. Applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the tip of the penis can help protect the wound from sticking to the diaper and reduce discomfort.

In the days following the procedure, parents should avoid using tight diapers or any harsh cleaning products around the area. After each diaper change, gently clean the area with warm water, and avoid using wipes with alcohol or fragrance.

The circumcision should heal within one to two weeks. If the area becomes excessively red, swollen, or there is any sign of pus, a fever, or persistent bleeding, parents should contact a healthcare provider to rule out infection.
