The first few weeks after your baby’s arrival can be both magical and overwhelming. Here’s what to expect and how to cope:
Feeding: Whether you’re breastfeeding or formula feeding, expect to feed your baby every 2–3 hours. Look for feeding cues like rooting, sucking, or restlessness.
Sleeping: Newborns sleep 16–18 hours a day, but in short bursts. Establish a gentle routine, but know that irregular sleep is completely normal at this stage.
Bonding: Skin-to-skin contact, soothing touch, and talking to your baby help build a strong emotional bond.
Your Recovery: Don’t forget about your own healing—physically and emotionally. Take help when offered, rest when you can, and stay hydrated.
At Borneo Mother & Child Hospital, our postnatal care team is here to guide and support you during these important first weeks after birth.
